A Bethlehem data center that employs hundreds is under the control of a new company, which plans to grow the facility’s workforce.
Sequential Technology International announced last month that it completed the acquisition of a portion of Synchronoss Technologies’ activation business, which included the data center at 1555 Spillman Drive in Lehigh Valley Industrial Park VII in Bethlehem.
Tom Miller, chief strategy officer of Sequential, spoke to The Morning Call recently and said the company considers the Bethlehem facility the “mothership” of its operations centers, of which it has nine around the globe allowing the company to operate 24/7 year-round. While he declined to give specific employment figures, Miller said the facility already has more than 500 workers and runs multiple shifts. The building can hold up to 1,300 employees, he said, and Sequential plans to get there — though there’s no firm timeline on that yet as the company is still early in its integration process.
“We do have plans to continue to hire and service our customers out of the mothership of our centers, which is Bethlehem,” Miller said. ” … We have plans in the foreseeable future to have that full.”
